Fun DIY Halloween Treats!

Halloween is a season filled with costumes, haunted houses, tricks and of course treats! Here are two Halloween sweets my 3 year old was able to help me make! We had so much fun making these together and she had even more fun eating them! These would be a big hit at a Halloween party too!

Worms In Dirt!

Here’s how you make it!

  1. Mix together 1 package strawberry Jello, two packets plain gelatin and 3 cups boiling water.
  2. Once completely dissolved let it cool in the fridge for about 10 minutes until it’s lukewarm.

3. In 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream add 25 drops of green food coloring.

4. Mix together completely and transfer to a container with a spout.

5. Stretch open all of the straws and place them ridge side down into a mason jar.

6. Pour the liquid mixture over the straws. It doesn’t matter if you pour it equally, it will balance out once in the jar.

7. Place the jar in the fridge for 24 hours to set.

8. Once set pull each straw out and run it under hot water for a couple seconds to loosen the Jello from the sides.

9. I tried to blow the Jello out of the straws and it doesn’t work! Loosen it up with the hot water then firmly squeeze down the straw to push it out. I even had help and she though it was super fun!

10. As you can see the result is super realistic looking worms that surprise the consumer with a sweet creamy taste!

11. Next you need to make the habitat for these wiggly treats. To make the soil you will want to add mini Oreos and a couple graham crackers to a food processor. Blend it into a crumb.

12. If you want it more mud like you can add some chocolate pudding at the bottom of the dish before putting in the worms and the dirt crumbs or you can leave it a dry dirt.

13. Put it all together and you have yourself a creepy crawly treat that will inspire giggles galore!
