Moroccan Spiced Rockfish

As I’ve mentioned before Rockfish is one of my favorites for trying out new recipes. This delicate white fish has a very light flavor, making it incredibly versatile and unlikely to battle the other flavors your are playing with. Mediterranean is my all time favorite type of food and this North African inspired dish is the perfect blend of freshness and spice.


Moroccan Spiced Rockfish

  • 4 rockfish fillets
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • 2 large garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbls Moroccan spice (I used store-bought)
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt

Mint Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped mint leaves
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Mint Yogurt Sauce.

Put yogurt, mint, garlic, lemon juice, cumin, and cayenne in a small bowl or blender and mix together until well blended. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve and keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Moroccan Spiced Rockfish

Season the fish fillets to taste with the Moroccan spice and salt. Heat a pan over medium heat adding the oil and garlic to sauté for a few minutes. Add the fish and cook for approximately 5 minutes on each side. About half way through cooking squeeze the lemon juice over the fish in the pan. Cook until cooked through and flaky. Drizzle the mint yogurt sauce over the fish when serving and garnish with a mint leaf.

I served mine on a bed of brown rice and a side of calabacitas but that is optional. A nice couscous salad or rice pilaf would go very nicely as well.
